Subject: Fire Dreaming /Tingari. Authenticity: Working Photographs and a Certificate of Authenticity. Ronnie was born c1943 at Tjiturrunya, west of Walungurru (Kintore) in Western Australia. Ronnie was initiated into manhood in Winparku, near Lake Mackay. He is the sone of Uta Uta Tjangalas brother Minpuru Tjangala. After his inititiation, Ronnie and his brother walked into Yuendumu. They later joined their parents and other siblings at the settlement of Papunya in 1956. He was one of the youngest of the original group of men that began painting at the start of the Western Desert Art movement in 1971. He was a founder of Papunya Tula Artists. Ronnies art is representative of the true Pintupi style with repetition of forms, which are geometric, simple and bold and pigments that are often restricted to black, red, yellow and white. Ronnie is one of the last founding members of Papunya Tula Artists and his career spans more than 30 years. In 1988 Ronnie won the Alice Springs Art Prize. He has had many solo exhibitions and his works are held in all major Australian Galleries including: The National Gallery of Australia; National Gallery of Victoria; Art Gallery of Western Australia; Art Gallery of South Australia; The Robert Holmes a Court Collection and many more. His works are also held in international collections such as the Richard Kelton Foundation, Santa Monica USA; Musee National des Arts Africans et Oceaniens, Paris, France; and Groninger Museum, The Netherlands.
