We’re running ten-day auctions this week, Sunday to Wednesday. Offered is a beautiful Anishinaabe First Nation Quill Birch Bark and Sweetgrass Basket box, featuring a lucky four-leaf clover. This has fine, tight quillwork. It measures 4″ by 2 1/4″. Overall, very good condition. Three lifted quills on bottom side that have been glued, so could pop up again. A few nicks on very bottom. No damage to top. This came from a Canadian estate sale of an Ontario physician who had a huge quill box and other Native art collection. Most of the items we sell come from our personal collection gathered over the years from our travels, from Native powwows and craft stores, antique shops, auctions and estate sales. Now that our kids are in college and beyond, we are letting some items go so others can enjoy them. Sorry for the expense, but I’ve had items lost overseas when mailing first class and don’t want to take the risk of losing items. I pack carefully and try to reuse materials to save on environmental impact. I often double-box items with smaller gift boxes collected from various thrift stores. I reuse all that I receive and hope you will make use of the ones that come in your packages.
